Transportation

Vermillion County is bi-sected by Indiana Highway 63, a major four-lane, limited access, north-south highway. I-74 crosses the northern part of the county and I-70 is just 15 miles south. In addition, U.S. 36 and 136, along with Indiana Highways 32, 163, and 234 provide east-west access across the county.

Vermillion County is 15 minutes from Terre Haute, approximately one hour from Indianapolis, two and one half hours from Chicago; three hours from St. Louis; and two and one half hours from Louisville. Over one-half of the population of the United States is within 24 hours trucking time from Vermillion County.

CSX provides rail service the length of the county.

Indianapolis International Airport is approximately one hour from Vermillion County and Hulman Regional Field in Terre Haute is 20 minutes away. In addition, a private airfield is available for public use just north of Clinton in Vermillion County.
